about

Originally released in 2009 under the project name Tiny Bits of Heart (the name being a tribute to the legendary Norwegian hardcore band The Spectacle from Erik's hometown Bodø). In 2011 new instruments (mainly double bass) was added and mixing done for a European tour, supporting the artist Moddi, and the project name then changed to Monograf.
As an extra track Bruremarsj fra Steigen is added; a wedding march written for the wedding of Erik's brother in 2009. The EP only features acoustic instruments.

From the booklet: "The spoken words on Kjærlighet i krigens tid is from an interview I did with my grandfather, Tov Aanonsen, concerning his and my grandmother’s wedding in 1944, during the Second World War. In the excerpt he tells of the hardship and toil surrounding the war, especially the latter years, and then the wondrous event the wedding feast became. My grandmother’s family being well-off, they still had to save rations for months to have enough, but the end result became an almost surreal event, held on the island Askerøya, away from prying eyes.
I’ve tried to put this story into music, both the hardship and suffering of the war, but also the respite and joy that the feast and occasion gave the ones that were there to experience it. My grandparents being abstainers and modest people, the feast was a rather quiet but beautiful affair, and I’ve tried to reflect that.
Erik, November 2011"
